For some reason Kentucky has become the site of some of the most epoch battles in the short history of online casinos.  The most popular of course involves the Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear attempting to seize the domain name of 141 online casinos as if they were gambling devices back in October of 2008.  That story evolved into a court drama that has been on going in the last 15 month and has made its way all the way up to the Supreme Court.

Now it seems a new event is on the horizon.  Rand Paul has made it official that he will be running for the Senator of Kentucky.  And yes, Rand Paul is the soon of the popular Texas Congressman Ron Paul.  Ron Paul has been very active in reaching across the aisle and helping Representative Barney Frank in his ambition to regulate online casinos in the United States.

Although he has not been as forthright in his opinion on online casinos as his father has, it is not likely that Rand Paul’s view on online casinos is much different.  It will be interesting to see him take on the role of Senator in a state that has so violently opposed online casinos that it was willing to destroy the Internet as a whole to stop them. 

Online gambling advocates have long since gotten behind Rand Paul.  His campaign has already received donations from all over the gambling industry as a show of support to his fathers cause and, perhaps, as a means of sticking it to the anti online gambling forces in Kentucky.
