Maine KenoIt is no secret that if states want to legalize online casinos and other forms of online gambling there is nothing that the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act can do to prevent that. As a matter of fact the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act is sort of a non issue at the moment because it has been delayed from enforcement for the next six month. In the mean time, legislator in Main are considering expanding gambling by offering online Keno. Their motive for gambling expansion, as always, is to raise additional revenues. Keno would of course be run by the Maine Lottery. According to the lottery offering online Keno could bring the state an additional $2.4 million in tax revenues. That is just off of one game. Imagine the revenues that would be harvested if only the United States regulated online casinos. However it seems like individual states are on their way to legalizing online casinos, only game by game. Dan Gwadosky, the Director of the Maine Lottery, defended the legality of Keno. According to Gwadosky, the only difference between Powerball and Keno is that Keno involves a lot more frequent drawings. “The Keno game is a little bit different than your scratch ticket, so it may, in fact, attract a different player,” said Gwadosky responding to critics that claimed Keno may lower Lottery participation. “There's only so much disposable income out there, and there would be some loss.” Even if it takes each state legalizing online casinos one game at a time, it appears that full blown online gambling the United States is inevitable. |
