Gateway to the Baltic While other countries in the European Union, and the world for that matter, go back and forth on whether to legalize and regulate online casinos, it seemed to be a no-brainer for the tiny country of Estonia. The global economic crises crippled Estonia and left it as the second most damaged economy in all of the European Union. Estonia’s economy dropped by 36 percent. Estonia was considering regulating and legalizing online casinos before the global economy took a nose dive, but I am sure it helped persuade a number of naysayers. Online casinos will be a great way of generating more tax revenues in the country. Things will be even better when Estonia finally opens up to the global market of online casinos in 2011. Only a year out, you can believe that Estonia is getting a lot of attention from online gambling operators all over the world. The major companies are trying to get advertising to spread the word about their services. Estonia is likely to become the doorway through which several online casino companies access the Baltic region of Europe. Estonia is progressive enough to realize the infinite potential the multibillion dollar online casinos industry has on a country of its size. There is a lot of money to be made from tax revenue and it is likely to create several new jobs. The new job scenario is especially true Estonia does in fact become the gateway to the Baltic. Estonia’s success may be what is needed to convince European countries like France and Germany to change their protectionist policies against online casinos and online gambling. |
